About the Event
A taster session with Patrick & Julie Scott @ Currypool Equestrian
The Pony Racing Authority are looking to fund Pony Club Members whom are interested & capable of becoming a jockey.
The initial session will be non-ridden and basically play different games that are linked to pony racing. There will be an Equicizor, which is a mechanical horse that Jockeys use to work on their fitness and practise their technique, the children get to go on this.
Successful members will be advised of the next stage to apply for funding.
Information on the
Pony Racing Authority’s Youth Training Scheme
These are run for children who do not own their own ponies and are unable to participate in pony racing due to financial or circumstantial reasons.
Participants need to:
· be aged between 11 and 15 years old
· have a basic standard of riding and be able to canter in a riding school
· demonstrate that they really want to have a go at pony racing
· show commitment to the course
The course is fully funded by the PRA and includes hire of ponies and equipment but each rider will need to provide their own safety equipment including a riding helmet, body protector and riding boots. (We can help with this if necessary).
